Term for collecting (Greek philos = friend, fondness for certain objects) the small metal capsules commonly found between the agraffe (wire mesh) and cork of sparkling wine bottles. These capsules, known as "plaque de muselet", are used as advertising media by means of appropriate imprints. There is a large collector scene for champagne bottle capsules, especially in France, with old brands being particularly sought after. The term is made up of "placomuso" and "philie".
