Common name for vineyards (sites) in the German-speaking world. The name indicates a diverse bird population. In Austria there are at least three of them:
Gemeinde Bockfließ in the Weinviertel wine-growing region (Lower Austria): Here mainly the two varieties Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt are cultivated. Shares of the reed are for example held by the wineries H&B Haferl, H&M Hofer and Kaiser.
Community Langenlois in the wine-growing region of Kamptal (Lower Austria): The reed, also known as "Berg Vogelsang", is situated on the Loiserberg and is therefore often called a subriede of the same. It curves towards the west and borders on a mixed forest. The soil consists of primary rock with garnet and mica slate. The Grüner Veltliner variety is mainly cultivated here. The Bründlmayer Willi vineyard, for example, has a share in the reed.
Community Rust (Burgenland): The section towards Lake Neusiedl consists of weathered mica with little lime and a lot of loam, in the western part there is more loess. Here the varieties Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Furmint, Merlot and Blaufränkisch cultivated. The Bachkönig, Esterházy, Kraft Harald, Schröck Heidi, Triebaumer Ernst and Wenzel Robert wineries, for example, have shares.
