It should not be confused with the Gouais Bl anc (Kleinberger), Gros Blanc, Pedro Ximénez, or Silvaner varieties, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities. In California, the Monbadon (Burger) variety used to be mistakenly called Elbling. However, there are still other varieties with the name part Elbling.
