There are three grape varieties with this name:
The red grape variety is a new cross between Lival x Cardinal, which was confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 2013. The cross was made in France in 1958 by the French ampelographer Paul Truel (1924-2014) on behalf of INRA at the Domaine de Vassal. The vine is mainly used as table grape. In 2016, 81 hectares of vines were reported in France (Kym Anderson statistics).
The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Pukhliakovskyx(Muscat d'Alexandrie x Vitis rupestris). It contains genes from Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Uzbekistan. The vine is mainly used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
