The winery is located in the municipality of Ablitas in the northern Spanish region of Navarra. It was founded in 2002 by Spanish director and producer Iñaki Nuñez (one of his films was "The Nine Gates" with Jonny Depp). The head oenologist is Jean Marc Sauboua, who learned his trade at Château Haut-Brion (Bordeaux) and has been working worldwide as a flying winemaker since 1993. A hotel with restaurant is attached. The vineyards cover a total of 140 hectares of vines at 400 metres above sea level. They are planted with Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel (Muscat Blanc). The vines are trained in trellis training with drip irrigation. The vineyards are cultivated according to the rules of integrated viticulture (KIP) with no use of chemical pesticides and low-soluble nitrogen fertilisers. In 2014, the "Pago de Cirsus" sub-area was classified as the highest Spanish wine quality level, Vino de Pago. The product plate includes various DO wines Navarra and VdP wines Pago de Cirsus. They are aged in stainless steel tanks or in barrique barrels, depending on the type of wine.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
