Schildknecht David

US wine journalist David Schildknecht is one of the most profound wine critics. The well-known US wine writer Eric Asimov has described Schildknecht as "one of the most erudite and observant wine writers around". He is and has been a contributor to various wine magazines. Between 1997 and 2002 he wrote regularly from Austria, Germany and Hungary for the wine journals "Wine & Spirits" and Stephen Tanzer's "International Wine Cellar". Since 1990, he has also worked for Robert M. Parker's magazine Wine Advocate and has become a Riesling fan and specialist. In 2006 he became a permanent member of Parker's tasting team and is responsible for wines from Germany, Champagne, Alsace, Languedoc-Roussillon, Loire, New Zealand, Austria, Eastern Europe, South Africa and the USA East Coast and Midwest. He imported wines from France for a wine trade. In the third edition of the wine classic Oxford Companion to Wine (2006) by the editor Jancis Robinson, he was responsible for the topic "German wines". Furthermore, he contributes to the magazine "World of Fine Wine". In 2006 he was awarded the international "Steinfeder Prize for Wine Journalism" donated by the Wachau Association Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus.
