The winery is located 9 kilometres from the municipality of Ciudad Real (province of Ciudad Real) in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha. It was founded in 2000. The striking, elongated building is designed in the shape of a telescope. The area Pago del Vicario covers 130 hectares of vineyards at 600 metres above sea level on the River Guadiana in the foothills of the Montes de Toledo. The red wine varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Graciano, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot are cultivated, as well as the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The area was classified as the highest Spanish wine quality level Vino de Pago in 2019. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wines are matured in French, American and Caucasian oak barrels.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
