most common alcoholic beverages

See under national drink.

Almost every country in the world has its own special national drink. These are almost exclusively alcoholic beverages and very often spirits. Inevitably, these are those with the highest production share or alcohol consumption in the respective country. Wine and beer are available in almost all countries. In terms of per capita consumption, Germany, Ireland, Austria and the Czech Republic in particular are considered "beer countries".

As typical "wine countries" are several such as Italy and Spain, but above all France. Why certain drinks are particularly popular in certain countries depends on various factors. In addition to flavour preferences, this results from cultural and historical aspects and, above all, growing conditions such as geographical coordinates (longitude and latitude), soil types, geology, climate and weather. These have a major influence on the various raw materials such as agave, cereals (barley, wheat, rice, millet, etc.), fruit, grapes and sugar cane from which the drinks are made.
