The winery is located in the municipality of Volkach (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The winery was built in 1692 by the prince bishops of Würzberg. Since 1991, the farm has been run by Werner and Monika Müller. The vineyards cover 17 hectares in the Katzenkopf (Sommerach), Höll (Obereisenheim), Karthäuser, Kirchberg and Ratsherr (Volkach) vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling and Bacchus, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Domina and Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier). The white wines are mostly vinified in stainless steel and are aged for a long time on the fine lees. After maceration, the red wines are matured in traditional large wooden barrels and partly also in barriques. In years with suitable weather conditions, noble sweet Trockenbeerenauslese wines and ice wines are also produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced, as well as various noble brandies (marc, fruit) and liqueurs. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).
