Katzenkopf

single vineyard in the municipality of Sommerach (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The name goes back to the noble family von Katz, which had large vineyard estates in Sommerach and had a cat's head in its coat of arms. The south-southeast to southwest facing vineyards with slopes ranging from 10 to 40% cover 180 hectares of vineyards on shell limestone soils with loamy sand. Silvaner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir are cultivated here. Shares are held, for example, by the wineries Max Müller I, Rothe Manfred and Zang Otmar, as well as members of the Sommerach winegrowers.
