The white grape variety (also Geilweilerhof 84-27-285) is a new breeding between Sirius x Vidal Blanc. Incidentally, the Villaris variety was also created with the same parents. It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1984 by the breeders Rudolf Eibach and Reinhard Töpfer at the vine breeding institute Geilweilerhof in Siebeldingen (Palatinate). Plant variety protection was granted in 2015. The vine is resistant to downy mildew and especially powdery mildew, which is why it is considered a PIWI variety. It produces flowery white wines with harmonious acidity and a discreet muscat tone. Due to the attractive large grapes with golden-yellow berries, it is also very suitable as an ornamental vine. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
