The winery is located in the municipality of Mertesdorf (Ruwer area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. The winery, which is rich in tradition, was awarded a prize at the Paris World Exhibition in 1867. In 1982, it was taken over by Herbert Weis from the Fumetti family of Kasel. The new owner combined it with his own winery in Mertesdorf and has since marketed all wines under the label of the "Erben von Beulwitz". A vinotheque with estate wine tavern is attached. In addition, a hotel with restaurant is also operated.

The vineyards cover 8.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyards Hitzlay, Kehrnagel and Nies'chen (Kasel), as well as Marienholz (Eitelsbach). The Nies'chen site is 80% planted with ungrafted Riesling vines, some of which were planted in the 19th century. In addition, the two Burgundy varieties Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc are cultivated in small quantities. The vineyards are cultivated as close to nature as possible. This includes fertilising with manure, cover crop with wild plants, covering with bark mulch and not using herbicides for plant protection. The selective harvesting of the grapes, which are as healthy and physiologically ripe as possible, takes place in several rounds.
