The winery is located in the municipality of Kernen in the district of Stetten (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region of Württemberg. The family has been farming, growing grapes and fruit just outside Stuttgart for several generations. In 1997, the decision was made to leave the winegrowers' cooperative. The farm is run by Marion and Jochen Beurer. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines in the single vineyards Häder, Mönchberg (with Öde Halde) and Pulvermächer (Stetten). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Kerner and Sauvignon Blanc as well as the red wine varieties Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), Blauer Portugieser, Trollinger (Schiava Grossa) and Zweigelt. Riesling, which accounts for about two-thirds of the vineyards, has been the leading variety for a long time and has been massively selected with different grape varieties (mixed clones) in order to achieve a distinctive complexity of the wines. After initial conventional cultivation, the first trials according to ecological criteria followed in 2003. Then, in 2004, we switched to organic vit iculture and, in 2008, to biodynamic viticulture according to the rules of the organic associations ECOVIN and DEMETER.
