VB 32-7

This white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Cabernet Sauvignon x Amurensis. Synonyms are Blattner 32-7 and Valentin Blattner 32-7. It contains genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed by the vineyard owner Valentin Blattner in Soyhières in the canton of Jura in Switzerland. The vigorous, early-maturing vine with thick pink berry skins is resistant to botrytis, both types of powdery mildew and frost. It produces white wines similar to a white-grained Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas of elderflower, paprika and passion fruit. The variety is grown in the cantons of Aargau, Graubünden, Jura, St. Gallen and Ticino. In 2016, a total of three hectares of vines were reported in Switzerland (Kym Anderson statistics)
