The winery is located in the 19th district of Döbling in the Austrian capital Wien. The name is derived from the red-washed wooden house in the middle of the Platte vineyard on the Nußberg. The business was acquired in 2001 by the advertising specialist Hans Schmid, who has also owned the Mayer Winery on Pfarrplatz at the same address since 2006. The responsible team consists of Gerhard Lobner (managing director), Ing. Barbara Wimmer (cellar master), Dr. Dragos Pavelescu (oenologist) and Paul Kiefer (sales manager). The vineyards cover nine hectares of vineyards in the Langteufel and Preußen vineyards on the Nußberg. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Welschriesling and Traminer are cultivated, some of them as Gemischter Satz. Only physiologically ripe grapes are processed. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel tanks or in traditional large wooden barrels. The Burgundian, creamy-soft style is achieved by a longer yeast storage lasting up to several months, depending on the vintage. The premium wines include the Erste Lage wines from the Langteufel and Preußen vineyards. In years with suitable weather conditions, noble sweet wines are also produced.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
