Merlan

The red grape variety is an interspecific new cross between Merlot x Seibel 13666. It contains genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Moldova. The variety is resistant to fungal diseases and was therefore often used for breeding PIWI varieties. It was a crossing partner of the new varieties Cerason, Erilon, Kofranka, Laurot, Malverina, Marlen, Nativa, Rakisch, Savilon and Vesna. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
