Seibel 13666

The red grape variety is an interspecific new breed between Seibel 5455 (Plantet) x Seibel 6468, which was crossed at the beginning of the 20th century by the French breeder Albert Seibel (1844-1936). The vine is resistant to various fungal diseases. It was a crossing partner of the new varieties Luminitsa, Mendeleum and Merlan, whereby the latter was often used for further new varieties. In 2016, stocks of a variety called Seibel were identified in Brazil (478 ha), France (1 ha), New Zealand (3 ha) and Switzerland (1 ha). This could be Seibel 13666. In total, the area under vines was 482 hectares (Kym Anderson statistics).
