Madeleine Sylvaner

There are two grape varieties with this name:

Canada

The white grape variety likely originates from Canada. The parentage is unknown. The early ripening vine is resistant to fungal diseases and frost. It produces aromatic white wines with muscat note. The variety is also suitable as table grape. In 2016, six hectares of vineyard area were reported in Canada (Statistics Kym Anderson). However, there are also stocks in England, where the variety is grown in greenhouses as a table grape.

Germany

The white grape variety (breeding no. Geilweilerhof 3-28-51) is a new breed between Madeleine Angevine x Silvaner. The crossing took place at the Institute for Grape Breeding Geilweilerhof in Germany by the breeder Peter Morio. It is a wine grape. In 2016, no stock was reported (Statistics Kym Anderson).
