Madeleine Sylvaner

There are two grape varieties with this name:

Canada

The white grape variety may have originated in Canada. The parentage is unknown. The early ripening vine is resistant to fungal diseases and frost. It produces aromatic white wines with a muscat tone. The variety is also suitable as table grape. In 2016, six hectares of vineyard were designated in Canada (Kym Anderson statistics). However, there are also stocks in England, where the variety is grown in greenhouses alst table grape.

Germany

The white grape variety (breeding no. Geilweilerhof 3-28-51) is a new cross between Madeleine Angevine x Silvaner. The crossing was done at the Instiutut für Rebenzüchtung Geilweilerhof in Germany by the breeder Peter Morio. It is a wine grape. No stock was reported in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
