Producer description of "Weingut Bernhard Eifel"

The winery is located in the municipality of Trittenheim (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. It was founded in 1635 and has been run by Marietta and Bernhard Eifel since 1976. A guest house and the estate restaurant "Stefan Andres Weinstube" are attached. Their daughter Alexandra was also born with a love of wine, which she consolidated through several months of practical training at the German wineries Ökonomierat Rebholz (Palatinate) and Heymann-Löwenstein (Terrassenmosel). After completing her studies in oenology in Geisenheim, she will follow in her parents' footsteps. The vineyards cover six hectares of vines in the top vineyards Annaberg (Schweich), Altärchen and Apotheke (Trittenheim), as well as Maximiner Herrenberg (Longuich). They are planted with the varieties Riesling (5 ha), Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc and Kerner. Great importance is attached to the preservation and expression of the respective terroir. Whole grape pressing is followed by cool fermentation. The wines are mainly matured in stainless steel and a small part in large wooden barrels. ungrafted A speciality is the "Riesling vom roten Schiefer" (Riesling from the red slate) from 75 to 100-year-old vines from the Schweicher Annaberg site. The Pinot Blanc is matured for six months in barriques. In suitable years, noble sweet Prädikat wines and ice wines are also produced.
