The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, founded in 1973, comprises more than 100 Grand Cru wines from the French region of Bordeaux in the appellations of Médoc (with Listrac-Médoc, Margaux, Moulis, Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe and Saint-Julien), Graves, Pessac-Léognan, Pomerol, Saint-Émilion, Sauternes and Barsac. The objective is to increase the sales of Grand Crus of Bordeaux with suitable marketing measures. In all its activities, the UGCB sees itself as an ambassador of French culture. The annual Primeur wine fair in Bordeaux is one of the most important events. Some 80 events are held annually around the world. As of 2019, there were 135 members; honorary members are Château Cheval Blanc, Château Mouton-Rothschild and Château d'Yquem. See also under Bordeaux classification and Grand Cru.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
