French term (also primeur or filius) for a quickly fermented young and uncomplicated wine that is bottled in the year of harvest and is intended for quick consumption (for some wines this is recommended within a few weeks). In the case of a red wine, the maceration lasts only a few days....
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
