Styrian Mixing Set

Common name in Styria(Austria) (also Altsteirischer Mischsatz) for Gemischter Satz. The term has no meaning in wine law. For practical reasons, different grape varieties are planted together in a vineyard to minimise risk. The typical grape varieties are Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Grüner Hainer, Weißer Heunisch (Gouais Blanc), Morillon, Mosler (Furmint), Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), which are harvested and processed together. The blend is handled individually by the winemakers.
