The association of wineries in Styria (Austria) emerged as the successor to the group of "Steirische Klassik-Winzer" (Styrian Classic Winegrowers) founded in 1986, which had coined the term "Steirische Klassik" (Styrian Classic) for fresh and fruity white wines made from typical Styrian grape varieties from 1993 onwards. The name STK® is protected for the member wineries Frauwallner Walter, Gross Alois, Lackner-Tinnacher, Maitz Wolfgang, Neumeister, Polz Erich & Walter, Sabathi Erwin, Sabathi Hannes, Sattlerhof, Tement Manfred, Winkler-Hermaden and Wohlmuth Gerhard.
Only those wines that comply with the rules and quality regulations may bear the STK logo. They are made from the white quality wine grape varieties permitted for this purpose: Gelber Muskateller (Muscat), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Morillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer or Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc).
