Producer description of "Weingut Johann Stadlmann"

The winery is located in the municipality of Traiskirchen in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Thermenregion. There is documentary evidence that the family was already involved in viticulture in 1780. Today, Johann and Michaela Stadlmann are the seventh generation of the family to run this traditional winery. A wine tavern is attached. Johann Stadlmann is chairman of the newly founded regional wine committee. He gained practical experience during numerous visits abroad, which he incorporates into his wines. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards in the Mandel-Höh, Igeln, Höfen, Tagelsteiner and Mitterwiese vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Zierfandler,Pinot Blanc, Rotgipfler, Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Neuburger and Gelber Muskateller, and 25% with the red wine varieties St. Laurent, Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon. The aim is to produce wines that reflect the grape variety, terroir and vintage. The premium wines include the long-lived three Stadlmann classics "Mandel-Höh Zierfandler", "Tagelsteiner Rotgipfler" and "Höfen Weißburgunder" from vines over 45 years old, as well as Zierfandler Große Reserve. In years with suitable weather conditions, sweet wines such as Beerenauslesen and Trockenbeerenauslesen are also produced. Exports account for 50% of the total production.
