The red grape variety (breeding no. Seibel 8745) is an interspecific new cross between Seibel 5163 x Seibel 880. It contains genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis cinerea, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in France by the breeder Albert Seibel (1844-1936). The variety is cultivated in the regions of Loire and south-west France. In 2016, 50 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
