The winery is located in Sebastopol, around 80 kilometres north of San Francisco in Sonoma County(California). It began in 1986 with the purchase of a large plot of land by Marimar Torres (*1945), daughter of the Spanish wine entrepreneur Miguel Torres Senior (1909-1991) and sister of Miguel A. Torres (*1941), the current president of Torres. She moved to the USA in the 1970s to realise her own wine-growing projects there. The winery was built in 1992 in the Catalan country house style. A large part of the property with indigenous animal and plant species remained untouched. The winery was then opened in 1993. Marimar Torres is still active in the winery, but her daughter Cristina Torres is increasingly in charge of operations.
