The white grape variety is a new cross between Pirovano 46A (Delizia di Vaprio) x Pirovano 2 (Angelo Pirovano). Synonyms or breeding numbers are 185 Pirovano, I. P. 185 and Pirovano 185. The cross was made in 1925 at the research centre in Rome by the Italian breeder Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). The variety has full-fleshed, brown-red, oval, large berries and attractive leaves. It is therefore often used as an ornamental vine or as table grape. In 2016, a scanty hectare of vineyard was designated in France (Languedoc) (Kym Anderson statistics).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
