Angelo Pirovano

The grape variety (also Pirovano 2 and Uva Rossa) is a new breed between Chasselas Rose(Chasselas) x Muscat d'Hamburg. The crossing was made in 1899 at the research centre in Rome by the Italian breeder Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). The very successful table grape is used in many countries worldwide. She was a crossbreeding partner for the new varieties Ignea, Servabilis and Solferino.
