The grape variety is a new breed between Chasselas Rose x Muscat d’Hamburg. Synonyms are Pirovano 2, Uva Rosa, and Uva Rossa. The crossing took place in 1899 at the research center in Rome by the Italian breeder Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). The very successful table grape is used worldwide. It was a crossing partner of the new breeds Ignea, Servabilis, Solferino (1), and Yamanashi 7. In 2016, no stock was recorded (Kym Anderson).
