In 1995, the association SIVCBD (Syndicat International des Vignerons en Culture Bio-Dynamique) was founded by 15 French winegrowers. The main objective was to define standards specifically for viticulture, especially in relation to winemaking, with more flexibility than the Biodynamic association DEMETER. The SIVCBD promotes research and experiments related to the testing of biodynamic methods. Only wineries that have already completely converted to Biodynamic viticulture or have done so within three years are accepted as members.
Today, the group comprises 137 farms from France (130), Germany, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland (as of 2018). They cultivate a total of around 3,500 hectares of vineyards. Since 2002, the international organisation ECOCERT has also (but not exclusively) acted as an organic inspection body. The certification logo of the community is BIODYVIN. There are regular meetings of the members several times a year with various information events, training courses and wine presentations or tastings. See also further information under Organic Viticulture.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
