Vigour

Ability in terms of the extent and speed with which a vine develops shoots and leaves during the vegetative cycle. In addition to the primary potential ability of the vine variety, the subsoil, soil type and climate, as well as vine training and pruning have a secondary influence. Vigorous varieties usually also produce high yields of up to 150 hl/ha and more. See also under mass carrier, pruning weight and a list under vineyard care.
