The winery is located in the municipality of Oberloiben in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. The origins of the traditional family business go back to the year 1696. Today, the winery is run by Paul Stierschneider. A Heuriger and a guest business are attached. The vineyards include the Frauenweingarten, Loibenberg, Klostersatz, Rothenberg, Schütt and Steinertal vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are cultivated in a near-natural way. Appropriate measures ensure that only low-yield, high-quality grapes are processed. The product range includes various wines of the regional brands Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd, which are vinified according to the guidelines of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus winegrowers' association. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also produced.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
