The white grape variety originates from the Balkan region. Synonyms include Grüner Spitzler, Matarskirizling, Spätgrün, Sremska Belina, Szeremi Zoeld, Teremi, Teremi Zoeld, Zelenka and Zoeldzeremi. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Purcsin x Frâncușă. However, this is based on only 19 DNA markers (see Molecular genetics). The late-ripening vine is sensitive to frost and botrytis. It yields white wines with high acidity. The variety is cultivated in small quantities in Romania, Serbia and in the Zala area in Hungary (0.1 ha). In 2016, only the Hungarian stock was reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
