The red grape variety (also BRS Margot) is an interspecific new breeding between Merlot x Villard Noir. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The crossing of the hybrid took place in Brazil in 1975; the selection in 1995. In 2016, two hectares of vineyards were designated (statistics Kym Anderson).
