The white grape variety is an open-pollinated seedling of the Isabella variety. Synonyms are Isabella Krasnaia, Isabella Rosovaia, Lidia and Lidiya. Genes of Vitis aestivalis, Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera are present. The hybrid was selected in the USA by the breeder C. Carpenter. The red-berried vine produces light red wines that are often blended with Isabella. It is also used as a table grape. The variety reached Azerbaijan at the end of the 19th century, and later Ukraine, Russia, Moldova and Romania. In 2016, however, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
