The "Jammertal Wine Estate" is situated in the village of Villány in the wine region of the same name in the south of Hungary and was founded in 2001 and consists of two wineries. Zsolt Nagy is responsible for the vineyards and Zsófia Kövesdi for the vinification. The own vineyards cover 75 hectares. In addition, 25 hectares of grapes are purchased from contracted winegrowers who have to follow strict production rules. The red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) and Kék Portugizi(Blue Portuguese). These are cultivated with a high planting density for reasons of quality improvement. There is a rigorous yield reduction with only 800 grams/vine; this is about a 0.75 l bottle of wine. The wines are matured in the cellar building, which is equipped according to the latest findings, after temperature-controlled fermentation in large wooden barrels or in barrique barrels. The large product range consists of the brands Cassiopeia, Koh-I-Noor, Wunderlich Classic and Wunderlich 4U.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
