The winery is located in the municipality of Joching in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. It is run by the fifth generation of the family and has been managed by Alois Jr. and Erna Höllmüller since 2000. A Buschenschank is attached. The vineyards cover six hectares in the Angern, Buschenberg, Pichlpoint, Stein am Rain and Vorderseiber vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (50%), Riesling (30%), Gelber Muskateller, Müller-Thurgau and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt and St. Laur ent. The vineyards are cultivated in ecological harmony with nature. The grapes are gently pressed in the newly built press house, fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled fermentation temperature until the natural end of fermentation and then matured at a constant cellar temperature until bottling. The red wines are stored in large wooden barrels for at least one year. Noble brandies (grapes, marc, fruit) are also produced. The winery is a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
