Geoponics

Term (agricultural works) for an extensive collection of Greek and Latin specialised literature on nutrition and agriculture from antiquity and the Middle Ages. These include works by the Carthaginian Mago (4th century BC), the Greek authors Xenophon (430-354 BC), Aristotle (384-322 BC) and Nicandros (197-130 BC), as well as the Roman authors Cato the Elder (233 BC). Other works by late antique authors that are no longer extant are also used. The Geoponica is of great, influential value in terms of knowledge about ancient food and drink culture, as well as viticulture and winemaking, and has often been reprinted.
