The "Viñedos y Bodegas Vegalfaro" winery is located in the municipality of Requena in the Spanish DO area of Utiel-Requena in the Spanish region of Valenciana. It was founded in 1999 by Andrés Valiente and his son Rodolfo. The name is a combination of "Vega" (meadow, river plain) and the historical name of the winery "Casa Alfaro". The vineyards cover 60 hectares on calcareous clay and gravel soils.
The red wine varieties Bobal, Garnacha Tinta, Tempranillo and Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Henri Bouschet), as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated. The vineyards are cultivated according to the certified rules of organic viticulture, taking biodiversity (variety of species) into account with cover crop chamomile, nettles and legumes. Pest control is carried out through the targeted use of mites, spiders and bees. Sheep graze in the rows of vines to control weeds. Solar panels are used to generate "green energy" in the vineyards to power the irrigation systems.
