Boal

Commonly used part of grape variety names and synonyms in Portugal. It is not a grape variety family, but there are genetic relationships or parent-offspring relationships for some varieties. Confusingly, some of the synonyms are used more than once; an extreme example is Boal Cachudo for five grape varieties. In addition, sources often specify only "Boal", making the distinction even more difficult.

Boal (Boal Cachudo) = Branda
Boal (Boal Branco, Boal Cachudo, Boal da Graciosa, Boal da Madeira, Bual etc.) = Malvasia Fina for Madeira
Boal Babosa = Ahmeur Bou Ahmeur
Boal Barreiro
Boal Bonifacio = Vital
Boal Branco (Boal Cachudo, Boal Branco do Algarve, Boal Calhariz, Boal de Alicante, Boal de Madere)
Boal Cachudo = Arinto, Boal Branco, Boal Vencedor, Damaschino, Malvasia Fina, Síria
Boal Carrasquenha, Boal Carrasquenho = Cayetana Blanca
Boal de Alicante = Boal Branco, Damaschino
Boal de Alicante Moscatel
Boal de Praça = Beba
Boal de Praga (Boal Cachudo) = Síria

Boal no Douro = Sémillon
Boal Prior = Tamarez, Trincadeira das Pratas
