Augusta Luise

The white grape variety is a new cross-breed between an unknown parent variety x Siegerrebe. Synonyms and breeding numbers are Augusta Suisse and Breider 48-12-8. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2012, the paternity of Cyperntraube given in the breeding list turned out to be false. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see under molecular genetics). The cross was made in 1948 by Hans Breider (1908-2000) at the Landesanstalt für Weinbau in Würzburg. The vine is used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
