Mother variety

In the case of a new variety of vine varieties, the parents are indicated in the form "New variety = parent variety x father variety". Mother variety is the first named grape variety, for example "Zweigelt = St. Laurent (mother) x Blaufränkisch (father)". As a rule, the characteristics of the mother variety prevail more strongly.
