Term (dialectal: boding) for a larger container for various activities in winemaking, such as transporting grapes and for fermentation or mash fermentation. In the past, the container was mostly made of wood, today it is also made of various other materials (concrete, stainless steel, ceramics). This is the origin of the craft name cooper. See also Fassgeschirr, types of barrels and wine vessels.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
