Designation (dialect boding) for a larger container for various activities in winemaking, such as grape transport or fermentation or maceration. In the past, the tank was usually made of wood, but today it is also made of various other materials (concrete, stainless steel, ceramic, metal). This is the origin of the trade name Böttcher(cooper). See also under barrelware, barrel types and wine vessels.
