Craft profession for the production of containers (barrels, tubs, tubs, buckets, and similar vessels) from various types of wood (preferably Eichenholz) mainly for liquids. Depending on the country and region, there are various designations such as binder, cooper, or bottler (from Bottich), cooper or tub maker (from Butte), barrel maker, barrel maker, barrel puller, wood cooper, bucket maker (from bucket), cooper, cooper, pinter, cooper, schedler (from schedel = Hohlmaße), simmer maker (from simmer = hollow), barrel maker (from Tonne = hollow), wine cooper, and wynzuegel. The designation is derived from the Kufe (wooden vessel); the Kelten already used wooden barrels extensively for the transport of wine around 600 BC; therefore, the craft of barrel making has an ancient tradition.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
