Strawberry flavouring

This flavour note is closely related to the foxy (tail note), with which it usually occurs together. In this regard, it should be noted that this is to be understood positively or negatively depending on the cultural area, which also depends on the expression. In Europe, the aroma tends to be judged negatively or even as a wine defect, but in Japan it is highly appreciated. The strawberry aroma is a characteristic of certain American vines, especially of the species Vitis labrusca or crosses with them. The typical strawberry aroma presents itself caramel-sweetish with harmoniously integrated fine acidity. Well-known wines with this flavour are Americano (Italy), Fragolino (Switzerland) and Uhudler (Austria).
