Slate layer

Single vineyard designation that occurs several times in Germany. The Celtic term Lay (Ley) means "rock" or "slate rock" and refers to the rocky subsoil. Schieferlay is therefore strictly speaking a pleonasm (like "white mould").

Bad Neuenahr - Ahr

The south-facing vineyards with slopes of up to 45% at 100 to 150 metres above sea level cover 24 hectares of vines. The soils consist of greywacke, greywacke slate, hanging loam and loess. The Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser and Dornfelder varieties are cultivated here to around 80%. The Adeneuer, Burggarten, Deutzerhof, Heiner & Kreuzberg, Kreuzberg, Kriechel Peter, Lingen Peter, Maibachfarm, Nelles Thomas, Riske Reinhold and Weingut Sonnenberg wineries, for example, have shares in the site.

If I were to rate websites, you would deserve the highest rating. It is rare to come across websites that provide such a large amount of data and are still so intuitive to use. Respect for the lovingly researched and informatively prepared encyclopedia. Keep it up!
