The winery is located in the municipality of Dernau in the German Ahr
wine region. Today, it is managed in the fourth family generation by the great-grandson of the founder, Volker Riske. A bunch economy is attached. The vineyards cover five hectares in the areas Burggarten
(Dernau), Rosenberg and Trotzenberg
(Bad Neuenahr), Sonnenschein (Bachem), as well as Ursulinengarten
(Ahrweiler). They are planted with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder (75%), Blauer Portugieser, Dornfelder and Frühburgunder, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling and Rivaner. Natural viticulture is practiced. The quality criteria are reduced vine pruning, defoliation of
the grape zone, thinning out of
still unripe grapes and hand-sorted grape harvest in several passes. The white wines are cold fermented and aged in steel tanks. The red wines mature in old wooden barrels and new barriques and are bottled at the peak of their development. Fine spirits (yeast, marc), liqueurs and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
