The red grape variety (also Rubin Tairovskii) is an interspecific new variety between Odessky Ustoichivy(Băbească Neagră x Rupestris) x Varousset. It contains genes of Vitis berlandieri, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Ukraine in 1964 by the breeder Y. N. Dokuchaeva. The plant variety protection was granted in 1990. The late maturing, frost-hardy vine produces red wines with soft tannins and aromas of tomatoes and elderberries. In 2016 a vineyard area of five hectares was designated in Moldova (Kym Anderson).
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
