The traditional winery is located in the municipality of Senftenberg near Krems in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kremstal. The name Proidl in Senftenberg was first mentioned in a document in 1650. Today, Franz and Andrea Proidl are the ninth generation of the Proidl family to run the winery. With their children Patrick and Raphaela Proidl, the tenth generation is now working in the business. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the Ehrenfels (the vineyard, which was under sole ownership and had been fallow for decades, was recultivated and replanted over many years), Hochäcker, Pellingen, Pfeningberg and Rameln vineyards, most of which are on steeply terraced slopes. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (with over 50% the main variety), Riesling, Gelber Muskateller and Chardonnay are cultivated to 90%, and the red wine varieties Blauer Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to 10%.
