Ehrenfels

Riede (site) in the municipality of Senftenberg in the Kremstal wine-growing region of Lower Austria. It was first mentioned in a document in 1437. Due to the steepness and the poor soil, parts of it were abandoned around 1900 and 1930 and finally the whole vineyard in 1945. In 1988, the winegrower Franz Proidl began to clear the vineyard of undergrowth and forest and to reactivate it in several years of work. The south-southeast facing vineyard at an altitude of 240 to 310 metres above sea level with a slope of 45 to 60° covers two hectares of vineyards on granite subsoil and a small layer of coarsely weathered gneiss. The varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are cultivated here. The vineyard is solely owned by the Proidl Franz winery.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
