Nussberg (Ratsch)

Riede in the municipality of Ratsch in the Austrian wine-growing region of Südsteiermark ( Steirerland wine-growing region). The south to southwest facing steep vineyards with slopes of up to 80% are located at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level. The vineyards cover 22 hectares of vineyards on soils of calcareous marl and calcareous sandstone. They are partly terraced, as otherwise cultivation would not be possible. The basin-shaped location results in a special microclimate. Here, mainly the Sauvignon Blanc variety is cultivated, as well as Pinot Blanc, Morillon, Gewürztraminer and Gelber Muskateller. Shares in the vineyard are held, for example, by the wineries Gross Alois (main share) and Rebenhof Hartmut Aubell.
